We recently had the chance to interview Write Home, a band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The band describes themselves as "pop stars with talent," which, we must say, we definitely agree with them on that! Their EP "Overgrown" came out October 26th, 2018 so we thought we'd ask some questions about the EP and about the band itself! AU: How did you guys come up with the name "Write Home"? Is there a special meaning behind the name? Robin: It came from a song called "Something to Write Home About" by a band called Acres. AU: What made y'all choose that as the name? Was it a spur of the moment decision or was there a lot of thought put into it? Robin: I tossed the name out into a groupchat that we had and we were all down! AU: What was your goal when starting the band? Have you guys achieved that yet or are you still working towards it? Carter: Our goal as a band was to create music that was free from genre restraints, that we all felt passionate about. While still managing to maintain mass appeal with our anthemic sound. We were really set on writing music that we wanted, regardless of what category people placed on us. AU: What was the writing process like for the Overgrown EP? Were there songs that you wish made the EP but didn't? Billy: We took our time with the writing. It was the first time the three of us collaborated together, so it was a lot of fun to build that chemistry and learn what each other's strengths were. There weren't really any songs that we wrote that didn't make it onto the EP, we really honed in on the 6 tracks that we wanted to release and spent all our time crafting and perfecting them to the best of our ability. AU: Your fandom seems to be pretty small, but it's growing day by day. How does it feel, watching new people come to love your music? Robin: Man it's insane not going to lie! Having people come together just because of our music is beautiful! Everyone is so kind to each other and it brings joy to my heart. We love everyone so much! It's also cute to see people adopting either lyrics or just the simple combination of our emojis into their twitter bios/names. AU: What's the most meaningful lyric you've ever written? Carter: That's definitely a tough one! But this bridge would probably be one of my favourites. "You are my calm you are my stars When all around me falls apart A love within that sees no bounds, You are my light you are my sound A final breath when fate's imposed Found solace in the overgrown" AU: Now if you could pick any song, which one would you want to be remembered by? Carter: DAMN THESE ARE GOOD QUESTIONS

Robin: "Reap" pour moi Carter: That's so difficult to decide, I love every song for a different reason. AU: Who was your biggest inspiration when starting the band? Carter: Soulja Boy Robin: Nickleback Billy: Lil Xan AU: Like actually or are y'all joking with us? Robin: I love ramen Carter: Big Soulja Boy fans, we actually have his CD pinned up as a mural

Robin: OKAY THAT IS TRUE Billy: Okay here's a real answer. We're all inspired and influenced by a vast array of music, but for this project we wanted to make sure that we stayed true to ourselves and created something that was uniquely ours and free from any genre restraints. AU: What's your dream tour lineup? Carter: I feel like all our tour lineups will be completely different. Robin: Mine wouldn't even make sense. AU: Well we'll take all answers! Carter: The 1975, 30 Seconds to Mars, Motley Crue, Normandie, and Avenged Sevenfold Billy: 30 Seconds to Mars, Bring Me The Horizon, The 1975, and Avenged Sevenfold, Robin: I'd definitely say The 1975, nothing, nowhere., Justin Bieber, and Bring Me The Horizon. Billy: Oh yeah also nothing, nowhere. Carter: Oh yeah definitely BMTH Billy: I want Lil Pump on mine actually. AU: Are there any moments that you're working towards that'll make you truly believe you've made it as an artist? Carter: Hearing a sold out crowd sing back our lyrics, also being able to quit my job. Robin: Those two are it for me as well Billy: Yep same for me AU: And to wrap things up are there any upcoming tours, songs, projects, etc. in the works that fans should keep an eye out for? Carter: We're starting a side project titled "Bobi Boost & The Flokes," it'll be super experimental. Robin: Definitely new merch and possibly a reimagined version of a couple songs. Carter: We are also hoping/planning to jam pack our year with touring, while slowly piecing together a full-length album... But that's all I'll say for now.
