Canadian band Write Home has been pretty silent on their social media recently, and now we know why! They’ve just posted a short cover of the chorus of 5 Seconds of Summer’s ‘Ghost of You’ on their Twitter.
This cover really does the song justice and was done very beautifully. In the original song, Luke’s vocals in the chorus are more raspy, so hearing Robin’s softer vocals in this cover was a change I didn’t expect to hear, but it goes with the song perfectly. When you listen to Write Home, their songs are very soft with the exception of some parts, so this cover really isn’t too diverse of a sound for them, this is something we’re used to from them. In Write Home’s original songs we’re used to hearing a lot more drumming from Carter, but in this cover the drumming is kept more minimal. The minimal drumming helps keep the cover true to the original song, which seems to be what they were going for.
Write Home’s lead vocalist, Robin, says they plan to post covers like these every Friday and might be taking requests from their fans! He also told me that the band will be going live every Sunday to talk to their fans! New music in the works was also mentioned!
